The New PIXCI® E4 (Revision 4) PCI Express x4 frame grabber, when in “Base, Medium, Full” mode, supports any base, medium, full, or extended (i.e. Deca 10-tap) Camera Link camera. A switch on the PIXCI E4 selects either “Base, Medium, Full” or “Dual Base” modes. Dual Base mode supports one or two base configuration cameras. More than 900 Extended, Full, Medium, and Base configuration Camera Link cameras have dedicated support. Other Camera Link cameras are supported through a generic Capture & Adjust dialog.
The PIXCI® E4 acquires image data from a Camera Link camera at up to 700 megabytes per second, and transfers the data, at burst transfer rates up to one gigabyte per second, to the PCI Express bus. PoCL (Power over Camera Link) is provided on the two Camera Link connectors.
The PIXCI® E4 provides camera operation in free-run mode for maximum frame rate sequence capture. In control mode a low voltage TTL (3.3V) trigger signal can asynchronously control image capture. The XCAP program provides camera-specific controls for exposure, bit depth, gain, and frame rate with Capture & Adjust dialogs.
The PIXCI® E4 can be used in a PC with PCI Express x4, x8, or x16 slot and at least 512 megabytes of memory. It is designed to take advantage of larger memories made possible by 64-bit addressing. The PIXCI® E4 allows streaming of image data directly to terabytes of computer memory, allowing sequence capture for seconds, minutes or hours. The XCAP-Std program allows image capture to a hard or solid state drive, or to a drive array.
Multiple PIXCI® E4 frame grabbers can be used in one computer to support multiple identical or different cameras. The PIXCI® E4 frame grabbers can be used in a computer with other EPIX® frame grabbers for simultaneous capture from different camera models.
The New PIXCI E4 Revision 4 frame grabber is based on the PIXCI E8 frame grabber. The PIXCI E4 can be switched between “Base, Medium, Full” and “Dual Base” modes.
