NETServer’s easy installation features allow customers to get up and running quickly and intuitively. The
NETServer installs by plugging one end into standard phone lines and the other into the LAN. The NETStarter ™ auto-configuration wizard speeds users through the con-figuration process. Customers select the applications they need, then NETStarter prompts for necessary information and automatically configures the NETServer.

Remote client software can be critical to the success of a remote access implementation. NETServer comes bundled with award-winning Stampede ™ Remote Office ™
Gold Client software for seamless remote node and remote control connectivity. Server software is based on Livingston technology.
NETServer 8/16 is a scalable, fully integrated remote access server ideal for office environments as well as
smaller service provider points-of-presence (POPs).
NETServer 8/16 incorporates U.S. Robotics’ award-win-ning Courier ™ V.Everything ™ /V.34 modem technology and combines remote LAN dial access, LAN-to-LAN routing, and terminal server functions with advanced management, security, and call accounting capabilities.
Integrating these technologies in a single unit decreases equipment costs, eliminates messy cabling,
simplifies maintenance, and reduces overall cost of ownership.
All NETServer 8/16 products ship with the new U.S. Robotics x2 ™ Technology already enabled. x2
allows NETServer 8/16 products to receive data trans-missions at 56 Kbps* speeds.

APPLICATIONS
Remote access.

NETServer provides remote access to individual remote users through dial-up modem connections. Telecommuters and traveling nomadic users can dial into a NETServer connected to their corporate network to access e-mail, download files from the corporate network, access the Internet
through a corporate Internet connection, access Intranet web sites, and interact with a corporate host
system as a terminal or run a client/server application such as Lotus Notes. NETServer’s advanced security
system ensures dependable access for authorized users to appropriate network resources.
Award-winning technology. NETServer won Communications Week MAX AWARD 1996 for its ease of configuration & use and robust feature set.

Internet access.

Smaller Internet service providers (ISPs) or large ISPs with remote points-of-presence (POPs) can utilize NETServer to provide their subscribers with dial-up access to the Internet. NETServer’s Call Accounting and Security Server help network managers track subscriber usage.

LAN-to-LAN routing.

NETServer can connect branch office LANs over standard, inexpensive telephone lines. NETServer provides bandwidth-on-demand, allowing bandwidth to be added to LAN-to-LAN connections as needed.
